I’m a mother of 2 girls: Princess (7) and Punky (2). Obviously those aren’t their real names, but for their privacy, that’s what I call them when I blog. My boyfriend/fiance/husband/whatever and I are expecting our third child in March of 2016. I’ve already started calling the poor kid Peanut. So, Princess, Punky, and Peanut. My kids are my world.
We live in rural Iowa. Our last house was literally surrounded by cornfields, but this year we found a better yet cheaper home in a tiny rural town – a town with a population of around 500 residents. It may be considered a town, but it isn’t a “town” to me. I guess you can say I’m a city girl at heart. I feel like a little kid that can’t wait to grow up and get away.
I am at home full-time, which some would call a stay-at-home mom. However, I work from home doing a bunch of little things for money here and there. I have an eBay store, do some photography and graphic/web design, go mystery shopping, babysit, and sell some crafts. Plus, I blog and I write.
I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration, an associates degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sales and Marketing, and a general liberal arts associate degree. I’ve also studied Social Media Marketing and Design at the college level. I’m also lifelong learner that reads numerous books and takes workshops or classes about photography, blogging, writing, and raising children.
You’ve probably noticed that Modern Thrifty Mom is a new blog started in November 2015. That doesn’t mean I am a new blogger. I was a blogger back before WordPress even existed. Back then, most blogs were just personal online journals. I actually remember when WordPress and TypePad were newly released.
I took a huuuge break from blogging publicly – for about 8 years. But I stayed active and up-to-date on the trends and new opportunities involved. And in 2015, I decided that I was going to make the next year my year to build a semi-successful blog. So that’s my goal. I’d love to hear from my readers, so feel free to get in touch.
I’m open to PR pitches. As a business major in college, I have been known to study brands and learned to even think of them as people, too. I’m the daughter of an entrepreneur myself, and expect to grow my own business someday. I’d love to learn about your brand and help spread the word if it’s a product I enjoy. Or if you’re a fellow blogger, I’m looking for people to collaborate with on projects.
